First, make the scene safe
- Check for injuries and call 911 if anyone is hurt or vehicles are blocking traffic.
- Turn on your hazards. If you can move the car safely out of traffic, do it.
- Exchange information with the other driver and take photos of the vehicles and the scene.
- Call your insurance company to start a claim.
You choose where your car goes
You have the right to pick the body shop. Tell dispatch the shop name, or we can take the car to your home while you decide. If police have already called a tow, follow their instructions at the scene.
Careful handling after a crash
Damaged cars can have broken wheels, leaking fluids or parts hanging loose. We load them on a flatbed, secure loose parts and sweep up debris we can safely reach, so nothing gets worse on the way to the shop. If the vehicle went off the road, see winch-outs and recovery.
